Supporting the Troops!

Today, I was out running some errands and doing some shopping with my aunt. We were on a very major road in my area, 5 lanes and a BIG shopping area. Well, I saw the greatest thing!

On one of the corners, there stood a group of people, I would say about 10 or so. They were all military vets, mostly older men (I laughed because it looked like my grandfather was standing on the street with a bunch of his friends) and some of their family/friends. They were all holding Support the Troops signs. I literally almost started crying as soon as I saw them.

It gave me chills. It is not something I often see and also being in an area with no military base anywhere remotely close, I rarely ever see any (big) demonstrations of support let alone any military at all. It was one of the most amazing things I have seen!

If I wasn't out with my aunt, I would have absolutely pulled over and stood on that corner with them! My aunt told me that she's seem them there before (and apparently the other side of the road stands the protesters? I'm not exactly sure who or what but apparently the other side does the exact opposite of whoever stands on the corner where I saw the support today. That sounded confusing, lol, sorry!).

So, I think that I may just have to take another trip down that road again soon and thank them. I think I may even stand there with them! My sailor, and all the other brave men and women, who serve and protect our country, deserve all the love, support and respect that we can possibly give. They sacrifice so much more than so many other people, so I feel showing my support is the very least I can do. I still get the biggest smile thinking about what I saw and how great it was, it absolutely made my day! (O and it doesn't hurt that I only have 27 more days to go until he's home for Christmas!! WOOOHOOO!!)

I actually saw a little book at Walmart today that said to sign and thank our veterans. Was I happy? Oh yes! :D

This is so wonderful! It gave me the chills just reading it. One day there was, what looked like a husband and wife, standing on the sidewalk outside Camp Pendleton with a "Thank You" sign. I love seeing stuff like that.
