mini update on my life

It feels like I have not blogged in FOREVER! So I owe a serious update, but for now, I'm gonna give just a little recap of what's been going on in my life!

1. Work started again-yay 6th graders! Let's just say it has been QUITE an experience so far and it's only been 2 days! I see a lot of my kids from last year still, which is nice, since they are all split into different classes. It was really nice having them all run up to me and give me hugs the first day, makes you truly realize the impact you have on their lives.

2. My weekend at Penn State was amazing and Sugarland was fantastic again! Miss my best friend and that place (and PSU football!) a ridiculous amount! I can't wait to go back and hopefully soon!

3. Joined a "suicide football pool" at work. It's $20 and every week I pick a team that I think will win. I can only pick that team once in the season and if a team that loses, I'm out of the pool. I figured I would do it to get myself involved a little more with my co-workers, especially since I am in a new school this year and only know a few people. Plus the winnings are up to $1500 I think and I definitely could use that money! My first pick this week is the Colts, so fingers crossed they win!

4. I started to clean and organize my desk because it not only seriously needs it but because I want to start cleaning/organizing my life (because let's face it, I know I have a lot of CRAP!) And before I know it, I'll be packing up my stuff and moving wherever the Navy sends us. So might as well do whatever I can now while I have the time!

5. I did some serious wedding talks with my best friend over the weekend while we were at Penn State and it was so much fun and exciting! Which also led me to come home and starting doing some serious looking into things. My sailor had told me to do it when I got back home from visiting him a few weeks ago, so I finally did. I'm pretty sure I found "the" place, just want the ring before I go look at it! (It's silly because I know we're getting married, but I don't want to do any serious planning before the ring is on my finger so as not to jinx it. Ridiculous? Yes, I know it is, and I am, but I accept it haha)

6. My sailor starts his second and more stressful/hard school on Monday. He had briefings Wednesday and yesterday and some caring/volunteer thing today (he's going to read to kids at a school-I told him to remember everything I've taught him about being a teacher!) This next 6 months is going to be hard for him and I know less communication for us because of it, but I am proud of him and support him and will stand by him every step of the way. And I'm putting together his first "Power School Care Package" and I'm kinda really excited, I love sending him stuff :)

7. My sailor is being extremely secretive about my ring now, because of "his plan" and doesn't want to ruin it. However, he did start to say something about feeling bad and when I asked "why, because he has it and didn't get to give it to me yet?", he said no. I pestered him for a little bit longer but he kept being silly and trying to change the subject so I have NO idea what the boy is talking about or has planned. And I hate not knowing what's going, it's killing me!

8. It has been almost officially 5 years since I met my sailor and since we first started hanging out/dating. However, we didn't become "official" until later. After just writing that and re-reading it, I sound like I'm in middle school or high school or something. Haha how things have changed in 5 years. We were 18 when we met, seems like forever ago. Can't believe I went 18 years without him, but I know there will be many many many more then 18 to come :)

9. I'm going to a craft fair/sidewalk sale thing down near where my aunt works on Sunday. I'm really hoping that I can find some cute Navy/military/patriotic things. Every time I'm out I always look for things to decorate with, even though I don't have a house to decorate yet lol. But I have a nice collection of stuff for our house, wherever it may be! And I figure what better place than a craft fair!

10. I want to start working out (really NEED to start), reading the huge pile of books I want to, watching movies and t.v. shows I keep saying I want to watch, staying in better contact with some friends that I haven't been doing the best at keeping in contact with. I also want to find a second job and/or start volunteering somewhere. These sound like a somewhat New Year's resolution type list, but I figured since work started again, and that's like a new year for me (I kind of live my life according to school years-go figure lol!), it was as good a time as ever! Now let's just see if I can keep it up!

Not much else has been going on in my life, just a few of the highlights. I'm sure once school really starts I will have a lot more interesting and entertaining stories to share about my students! I saw a Friday Follow about September 11th that I want to do, but already had this written. Since tomorrow is 9/11, I'm going to save those thoughts/feelings/memories/emotions for then. Still cannot believe it's been 9 years but can remember that day like it was yesterday, probably always will.

I didn't realize you were a teacher too :)

I thought my hubby could not keep a secret either. I knew what my Christmas present was before I opened it, he accidentally let our "surprise" new year's eve trip slip out...so I was not expecting our engagement to be a surprise. But it was completely! Maybe your guy will surprise you with a surprise ;)

That's so sweet that they ran up to you to give you a hug! So cute! :)

The football pool sounds fun! Good luck!! Oh and I don't think your ridiculous at all for wanting a ring on your finger first, even though you know your getting married. I don't think that's silly.

I'm excited to hear about the ring and all the details. Keep up posted! :)
